Care Counseling

C.A.R.E. Counseling Center, founded and directed by Dr. Penny Winkler, Psy.D., LMFT, offers specialized counseling services designed to strengthen relationships, promote emotional health, and foster personal growth. With over 25 years of clinical experience, Dr. Winkler brings extensive expertise in couples therapy, family dynamics, and anger management. She is a Certified Anger Management Specialist through the AJ Novick Group and provides a structured Anger Control Training Program for Couples, a 12-week psycho-educational course focused on teaching constructive communication and emotional regulation.

The Anger Control Training program helps couples build long-term, fulfilling relationships by addressing conflict through mutual respect, empathy, and accountability. Participants learn key skills such as active listening without interruption, postponing defensiveness, taking healthy time-outs, and acknowledging their role in conflicts. The program emphasizes understanding each partner’s emotional experience and expressing needs clearly and respectfully—essential tools for preventing recurring cycles of anger and misunderstanding.

In addition to anger management, Dr. Winkler is a Certified Imago Therapist and Grief Recovery Specialist, offering both individual and group sessions for healing from loss and improving emotional connection. Her approach integrates compassion, education, and evidence-based techniques to create lasting positive change. C.A.R.E. Counseling Center welcomes new clients, with or without insurance, who seek support in managing anger, improving relationships, or recovering from emotional distress.
