Fresh Lifelines for Youth (FLY) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping young people avoid the pipeline to prison and build brighter, more hopeful futures. Founded on the belief that all youth deserve a second chance, FLY provides innovative programs that combine mentorship, legal education, leadership development, and critical life skills. Through its Law Program, FLY volunteers teach an interactive 8- to 12-week curriculum that not only helps youth understand the legal system but also equips them with essential tools such as anger management, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and resisting negative peer pressure. These skills empower participants to make better choices, manage emotions effectively, and build healthy relationships at home, school, and in their communities.

In addition to its law-based education, FLY’s Mentor Program connects caring adult volunteers with youth on probation, providing consistent guidance, encouragement, and positive role modeling. The organization also offers leadership training and reentry programs that prepare young adults to become advocates for justice and agents of change in their own lives.

FLY’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion ensures that all participants feel seen and supported, regardless of their background or circumstances. Volunteers, donors, and community partners play a vital role in FLY’s mission—each contributing to a more just, compassionate, and effective approach to youth development and crime prevention. With programs operating across Santa Clara, San Mateo, Alameda, and Contra Costa Counties, FLY continues to transform lives through education, empathy, and empowerment.
