Servant Hearts is a community-based organization dedicated to empowering and uplifting LGBT+ seniors and their allies through compassion, connection, and education. Guided by the mission of “empowerment through diversity,” Servant Hearts works to build inclusive, supportive environments where individuals can thrive both emotionally and socially. The organization’s three core initiatives—the Wisdom Project, Rhythms of Empowerment, and Respect & Awareness—serve as the foundation for its work.

The Wisdom Project focuses on fostering community among elder LGBT individuals in the greater Sacramento area, promoting physical and mental well-being, self-sufficiency, and spirituality. Regular gatherings and events encourage open dialogue, resource sharing, and connection, helping participants navigate life’s challenges with dignity and strength. The Respect & Awareness program works to cultivate understanding and inclusion by providing educational workshops and open conversations that challenge prejudice and promote acceptance.

The Rhythms of Empowerment initiative offers engaging programs that promote emotional healing and self-discovery through holistic and creative practices such as sound healing, meditation, and drum circles. A highlight of this program is the inclusion of Anger Management Tools, which help participants identify triggers, manage emotions constructively, and restore inner peace. These workshops, along with sessions on coping with loss and personal growth, encourage participants to transform pain into empowerment.

Through its annual events—like the Senior PRIDE Fair, community picnics, and regular group gatherings—Servant Hearts provides a safe and affirming space for LGBT+ seniors to celebrate their identities, connect with others, and find continued meaning and joy in life.
