The National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children, youth, and families through community-based, family-centered care. Grounded in trauma-informed and strengths-based practices, NYAP believes individuals thrive best when they remain connected to their families and communities. The organization provides over 60 programs nationwide, offering comprehensive advocacy, counseling, and behavioral health services designed to foster stability, resilience, and long-term success.
NYAP’s services address a wide range of behavioral and emotional challenges, including anger management, which helps individuals develop healthier coping strategies, improve communication skills, and strengthen relationships. Through these programs, clients learn to manage emotions constructively, reduce conflict, and build positive connections within their families and communities.
In addition to anger management and behavioral health services, NYAP plays a vital role in foster care and youth support programs. Their initiatives, such as the La Jornada program, provide protection, care, and transitional support for unaccompanied children and youth who have experienced trauma, displacement, or exploitation. NYAP’s partnerships with organizations like Family Support Services, Franklin County Children Services, and OhioRISE further expand their reach, ensuring that families across multiple states have access to holistic care management and advocacy resources.
With a mission centered on caring for people, connecting communities, and promoting peace, NYAP continues to create opportunities for healing, growth, and empowerment. By combining compassion with evidence-based practices, the organization helps individuals and families build safer, healthier, and more hopeful futures together.
