LICADD

The Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD) is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by substance use and mental health challenges. With over half a century of service, LICADD provides a full continuum of care, combining prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery support to help people rebuild their lives and strengthen their communities. Each year, LICADD reaches tens of thousands of individuals across Long Island through its clinical programs, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Student Assistance Program (SAP), and family services.

A major focus of LICADD’s work includes anger management, with both individual and group sessions designed to help participants understand the root causes of anger, develop healthier coping skills, and reduce conflict at home, school, and work. These evidence-based anger management programs promote emotional regulation, communication, and self-awareness—key components in preventing relapse, improving relationships, and maintaining long-term recovery.

Beyond anger management, LICADD offers specialized services addressing grief and loss, relapse prevention, eating disorders, and family support. The organization also provides educational outreach for students and professionals, continuing education (CEU) training for clinicians, and partnerships with schools and employers through its EAP program. With a compassionate team of social workers, clinicians, and care coordinators, LICADD continues to lead Long Island’s fight against addiction and mental health stigma—empowering individuals to achieve stability, healing, and hope.
