KY Intensive Outpatient Therapy

KY Intensive Outpatient Therapy

The Kentucky Intensive Outpatient Therapy (IOP) program is a structured, multi-day treatment option designed for individuals with moderate to severe substance use issues who need more support than standard outpatient care, but do not require inpatient treatment. IOP is ideal for those committed to recovery while maintaining responsibilities at home, work, or school.

Core elements of the program include:

  • Multiple therapy sessions per week (typically 3–5 days)
  • Group and individual counseling
  • Evidence-based treatment modalities
  • Relapse prevention and recovery planning
  • Support for co-occurring mental health conditions
  • Family involvement and education

IOP may be recommended as a step-down from inpatient treatment, or for individuals who have relapsed and need a higher level of care. The structure allows participants to receive intensive support while continuing to live independently.

Successful completion provides participants with improved coping skills, enhanced self-awareness, and a comprehensive recovery plan. This program is often used to fulfill court-ordered or DUI-related treatment requirements.
